YoungChem History

For the 19th time, we invite you to participate in the International Young Chemists Congress – YoungChem, a conference organized by a group of passionate young scientists. The event is dedicated to students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers who wish to present their work and engage with the international scientific community.

The first edition of YoungChem took place in 2003 in Zakopane and brought together participants from six European countries: Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Latvia. Since then, the conference has steadily grown in international recognition, attracting participants and speakers from across the world.

Over the years, YoungChem has hosted distinguished scientists, including Prof. Ben Feringa, Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry (2016) for the design and synthesis of molecular machines, as well as Prof. Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Prof. Fraser Stoddart. In 2017, the conference was honored with the Memorial Silver Medal by Prof. Victor Kartsev and the International Scientific Partnership Foundation, highlighting its scientific excellence and international standing.

The conference has been held in various cities across Poland, including Lublin, Szczecin, and Kraków. Last year’s edition took place in Dźwirzyno, a picturesque seaside town on the Baltic coast, where keynote lectures were delivered by Prof. Pierre Audebert and Prof. Marta K. Dudek. This year, we are pleased to welcome participants to Bystra – a charming town located at the foot of the Silesian Beskids, near Bielsko-Biała, offering an inspiring setting for both scientific work and relaxation.

The four-day program includes a series of scientific sessions, during which participants present their research through oral presentations and poster sessions. YoungChem provides a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, fostering discussions, and establishing collaborations that often evolve into long-term research projects.

As part of this year’s edition, the Scientific Committee will select the best poster presentation, which will be awarded a special prize funded by the organizers. In addition to the scientific program, the conference also features social and recreational activities, giving participants the opportunity to network in a more informal atmosphere and fully experience the unique spirit of YoungChem.
